Gandawa należy do grona miast, które nie usunęły komunikacji tramwajowej z rynku. Podczas mojej wizyty tramwaje jednak nie docierały w to jedno z najciekawszych miejsc tutejszej sieci z powodu remontu torów. Linie '1' i '4' zostały więc podzielone, każda na dwie trasy wybiegające z centrum, a brakujący odcinek należało przejść pieszo. Taka organizacja ruchu była łatwa do wdrożenia z powodu istnienia licznych przejść międzytorowych oraz posiadania wyłącznie wagonów dwukierunkowych.
Wagon #6341 obsługujący zachodnią część linii '4' oczekuje pory odjazdu z początkowego przystanku na Lange Steenstraat. Aby kontynuować podróż należało pokonać pieszo odległość trzech przystanków stąd pod Katedrę.
